Shawn Drover

Early Life

Shawn Drover, a talented Canadian drummer, began his musical journey at the young age of 13. He was inspired by his brother, Glen Drover, who also played guitar. This early exposure to music laid the foundation for Shawn's future career in the heavy metal genre.

Career

Drover's professional career took off in 1993 when he co-founded the power metal band Eidolon with his brother. His big break came in October 2004 when he replaced drummer Nick Menza in the iconic thrash metal band Megadeth, just days before the "Blackmail the Universe Tour". Over a decade with Megadeth, Shawn showcased his drumming prowess and contributed to the band's legacy. In November 2014, he departed from Megadeth alongside guitarist Chris Broderick to form the extreme metal supergroup Act of Defiance. After releasing two albums with the group, Drover launched his new band, Withering Scorn, and reunited with Glen to release their first record, "Prophets of Demise", in July 2023, with plans for a second album in 2025.

Personal Life

Currently residing near Atlanta, Georgia, Shawn Drover enjoys a fulfilling family life with his wife, a daughter, a son, and a grandson. Interestingly, his grandson shares his birthday, having been born on May 5, 2010. Beyond music, Shawn is a passionate sports fan, particularly of the NFL and NHL, supporting teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Montreal Canadiens. He also enjoys golfing and participates in various charitable golf events each year.
