Sodom

Formation

Sodom, a prominent German thrash metal band, was formed in 1982 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. The original lineup included Tom "Angelripper" Such, Bloody Monster, Arius "Blasphemer", and Aggressor. The band was named after the Venom song "One Thousand Days in Sodom" and was initiated by Tom as a way to escape the coal mines of his hometown. The lineup solidified when Chris Witchhunter replaced Bloody Monster on drums, bringing a new level of creativity to the group. They quickly gained attention with their early demos, leading to a record deal with Steamhammer.
