Tanel Padar

Early Life

Tanel Padar was born on October 27, 1980, in Estonia. He grew up in a musical family, with his older sister, Gerli Padar, also pursuing a career in music. Tanel's passion for music blossomed early, leading him to participate in various singing competitions.

Career

Padar first gained national attention in 1999 when he won "Kaks takti ette," a televised competition for young Estonian singers. His career took a significant leap in 2000 when he served as a backing vocalist for his then-girlfriend, Ines, at the Eurovision Song Contest. The following year, he achieved international fame by winning the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 alongside the boyband 2XL and Dave Benton with the song "Everybody."

In 2003, he formed the rock band Tanel Padar & The Sun, which quickly became one of Estonia's most popular bands. The group enjoyed considerable success, with multiple songs charting in the top 40 of the Estonian charts in 2006, including a hit that won the R2 Hit of the Year prize. After a farewell concert in 2017, Padar transitioned to a solo career.

Personal Life

Tanel Padar's personal life has been as dynamic as his career. He was married to Katarina Kalda from 2003 until their divorce in 2007. In 2018, he became engaged to Lauren Villmann, and they have two daughters together, Linda, born in 2019, and Luna, born in 2022. Padar's contributions to music have been recognized with several awards, including the prestigious Order of the White Star, 5th Class, and the first prize at the Eurovision Song Contest.
