Taylor Momsen

Early Life

Taylor Michel Momsen was born on July 26, 1993, in St. Louis, Missouri, to parents Michael and Collette Momsen. Growing up with a younger sister, Sloane, who is also an actress, Taylor was raised in a Catholic household and attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School. She later moved to New York City, where she pursued her passion for performing arts at the Professional Performing Arts School. Her early exposure to the arts included dance classes at the Center of Creative Arts in St. Louis.

Career

Momsen began her career in entertainment at the tender age of three, appearing in a national commercial for Shake 'n Bake. She gained widespread recognition for her role as Cindy Lou Who in the 2000 film "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," starring alongside Jim Carrey. Following this breakout role, she appeared in several films, including "Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams" and "Underdog." In 2007, she landed the role of Jenny Humphrey in the popular CW series "Gossip Girl," which she left after the fourth season to focus on her music career.

In 2009, Momsen formed the rock band The Pretty Reckless, where she serves as the lead vocalist. The band has since gained acclaim in the alternative, hard, and punk rock genres, releasing several successful albums under Interscope Records. Her music often reflects her personal experiences, particularly the struggles she faced with depression and substance abuse following the deaths of her idol Chris Cornell and her friend Kato Khandwala.
