The Allman Brothers Band was formed on March 26, 1969, in Jacksonville, Florida, by brothers Duane and Gregg Allman, alongside Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks, and Jai Johanny "Jaimoe" Johanson. The band quickly became known for their unique blend of rock, blues, and jazz influences, which set them apart in the burgeoning Southern rock scene. Their early years were marked by extensive touring and the development of their signature improvisational style, which would become a hallmark of their live performances.

The band's breakthrough came with the release of their live album, "At Fillmore East," in 1971, which is often regarded as one of the greatest live albums of all time.
