The Common Linnets

Formation

The Common Linnets, a Dutch band formed in 2013, emerged as a platform for artists to explore country, Americana, and bluegrass music. The original lineup featured Ilse DeLange and Waylon, who aimed to showcase Dutch talent in these genres.

Breakthrough

The band gained significant recognition when they represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with their hit song "Calm After the Storm." Their debut album, also titled *The Common Linnets*, was released on May 9, 2014, and quickly climbed to number one on the Dutch Albums Chart. Following their impressive second-place finish at Eurovision, the album solidified their presence in the music scene, earning them the 2014 Buma Cultuur Pop Award.

Lineup Changes and Continued Success

In May 2014, Waylon departed from the group and was replaced by American country singer Jake Etheridge. The current lineup also includes Matthew Crosby, JB Meijers, and Rob Crosby, with DeLange remaining a constant member. The band released their second studio album, *II*, on September 25, 2015, which also reached number one on the Dutch Albums Chart. Their single "We Don't Make the Wind Blow" further showcased their evolving sound and solidified their status in the music industry.
