The Dodos

Formation

The Dodos, an American indie rock band, formed in 2006 in the San Francisco Bay Area. The duo consists of guitarist and singer Meric Long and drummer Logan Kroeber, who were introduced through a mutual friend. Long had been performing as a solo singer-songwriter, while Kroeber brought a background in experimental drumming and progressive metal to the group.

Musical Evolution

The Dodos began their journey with a raw, acoustic roots rock sound, evident in their early albums like "Visiter" and "No Color." As they progressed, their music evolved into a more expansive pop sound with albums such as "Time to Die" and "Carrier." Their work often seeks to blur the lines between Long's melodic guitar and Kroeber's intricate drumming. The album "Individ" represents a culmination of their musical exploration, merging their acoustic roots with a broader sonic vision.

Discography and Influence

Over their fifteen-year career, The Dodos have released eight studio albums, including notable titles like "Beware of the Maniacs," "Grizzly Peak," and "Certainty Waves." Their unique blend of influences, ranging from metal to 1980s synth-pop, has helped them carve out a distinctive niche in the indie rock scene. The Dodos continue to be recognized for their innovative sound and dynamic performances, solidifying their place in the music landscape.
