THE ROOP

Formation

The Roop is a Lithuanian pop rock band formed in November 2014 in Vilnius. The group consists of lead vocalist Vaidotas Valiukevičius, who previously performed as Milanno, percussionist Robertas Baranauskas, and guitarist Mantas Banišauskas. They were later joined by bass guitarist Vainius Šimukėnas. The band took a new musical direction, moving away from Valiukevičius's earlier work in boybands to create a fresh sound that resonated with audiences.

Breakthrough

The Roop released their debut album, "To Whom It May Concern," in 2015, which marked the beginning of their rise in the Lithuanian music scene. They gained significant attention for their participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, attempting to compete three times. Their song "On Fire" was set to represent Lithuania in the 2020 contest, which was ultimately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, they won an alternative competition, solidifying their popularity.

Eurovision Success

In 2021, The Roop returned to the Eurovision stage with their hit "Discoteque," finishing in eighth place. This performance showcased their energetic style and further established their reputation as a leading pop rock band in Lithuania. The Roop continues to release music, including their albums "Ghosts" (2017) and "Concrete Flower" (2022), and remains a significant presence in the Lithuanian music industry.
