Early Life

Clifford Joseph Harris Jr., known professionally as T.I. or Tip, was born on September 25, 1980, in Atlanta, Georgia. Raised by his grandparents in the Center Hill neighborhood, T.I. began rapping at the young age of eight. His stage name originated from his childhood nickname "Tip," which he adopted out of respect for his great-grandfather. T.I. was also known as "Rubber Band Man," a moniker that referenced the practice of wearing rubber bands to signify wealth in the drug trade.

Career

T.I. embarked on his music career in the mid-1990s, selling mixtapes with local rapper Big Kuntry King. He was discovered by music executive Kawan "KP" Prather and signed to Ghet-O-Vision Entertainment, eventually joining Arista Records' LaFace Records in 1999. After a lukewarm reception to his debut album, "I'm Serious," he found mainstream success with subsequent releases, including "Trap Muzik," "Urban Legend," and "King." T.I. is credited as a pioneer of trap music, influencing the genre alongside fellow Atlanta artists Jeezy and Gucci Mane. He co-founded his own label, Grand Hustle Records, in 2003, further solidifying his impact on the hip-hop scene.

Personal Life

T.I. has had a colorful personal life, marrying Xscape member Tameka "Tiny" Cottle in 2010, with whom he shares three children. He has faced public scrutiny for his controversial views on parenting, particularly regarding his daughter's virginity. Despite challenges, including a highly publicized divorce filing by Tiny in 2016, the couple has been working on reconciliation. T.I. also experienced personal tragedy with the loss of his sister, Precious Harris, in 2019. Throughout his life, T.I. has remained a prominent figure in music and culture, known for his contributions to hip-hop and his outspoken views on various social issues.
