Early Life

Tracey Ullman was born on December 30, 1959, in Slough, Buckinghamshire, England. She was the younger of two daughters in a family with a rich cultural background; her mother, Doreen, was of British and Roma descent, while her father, Anthony John Ullman, was a Polish Roman Catholic who served in the Polish Army during World War II. Tragically, Ullman lost her father at a young age, which led her family to move frequently across the UK. Despite these challenges, Ullman found solace in performing, creating shows with her sister to entertain their mother. Her talent was recognized early on, earning her a scholarship to the prestigious Italia Conti Academy at just twelve years old.

Career

Ullman's career began in television in 1980, but it was her work on the sketch show "Three of a Kind" that propelled her into the spotlight. This show not only showcased her comedic talents but also led to a successful music career. In 1983, she signed with Stiff Records, where she released her debut album, "You Broke My Heart in 17 Places," which featured hit singles like "Breakaway" and "They Don't Know." Her music was characterized by a playful blend of 1960s and 1970s pop with a contemporary twist, earning her several top 30 hits in the UK.
