Valentina Monetta

Early Life

Valentina Monetta was born on March 1, 1975, in San Marino to an Italian father and a Sammarinese mother, making her the youngest of two children. From a young age, she showed a passion for music, studying piano and singing. She graduated from the Giovanni da Rimini school in Italy and furthered her education at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna for two years. Monetta also completed a three-year jazz singing course at the Conservatorio di Musica Arturo Toscanini under the guidance of Martina Grossi.

Career

Monetta's music career began in 1995 when she fronted the group Tiberio. Over the years, she collaborated with various bands, including Parafunky, Harem-B, and My Funky Valentine. In 2001, she gained recognition by competing in the televised singing competition Popstar. After several projects, including a single with the group 2black in 2006, she attempted to represent San Marino in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song "Se Non Ci Sei Tu," but was not selected. Her breakthrough came in 2012 when she was announced as San Marino's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest with her entry "Facebook, Uh, Oh, Oh (A Satirical Song)." Although the original song was deemed ineligible, she quickly revised it to "The Social Network Song (OH OH – Uh – OH OH)" and performed in the contest.

Monetta continued to represent San Marino in Eurovision in 2013, 2014, and 2017, making history in 2014 as the first entrant from her country to qualify for the final.

Personal Life

In September 2023, Valentina Monetta married her long-time boyfriend, Sbura King-Siso, marking a new chapter in her personal life. Her journey in music and her personal milestones reflect her dedication and passion for her craft, making her a notable figure in the Sammarinese music scene.
