Voyager

Formation and Early Years

Voyager, an Australian progressive metal band, was formed in 1999 at the University of Western Australia by Daniel Estrin, Mark Baker, and Adam Lovkis. The band underwent several lineup changes before releasing their debut album, "Element V," in 2003. The lineup for this album included Daniel Estrin on keyboards and lead vocals, Mark De Vattimo on guitar, Jennah Graieg on bass, Geoff Callaghan on drums, and Emanuel Rudnicki on guitar. Following its release in Australia, "Element V" gained traction in Europe after being picked up by DVS Records, leading to a significant increase in the band's popularity, including a notable opening act for Steve Vai in Perth in 2004.

Lineup Changes and Continued Success

In 2005, Voyager saw changes in their lineup with Melissa Fiocco replacing Jennah Graieg on bass. Later that year, Emanuel Rudnicki and Geoff Callaghan departed, leading to the addition of Simone Dow and Mark Boeijen. The band continued to evolve their sound, blending progressive metal with pop and heavy metal influences, particularly evident in their subsequent albums. Their second album, "uniVers," was released in 2007, further solidifying their presence in the metal scene.

Recent Developments and Legacy

Voyager has released a total of eight studio albums, with their latest, "Fearless in Love," debuting in 2023. The band gained international recognition when they represented Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with their song "Promise," finishing in ninth place. Their unique sound has drawn comparisons to renowned bands like Dream Theater and Symphony X, and they continue to be a significant force in the progressive metal genre, influencing many upcoming artists in the scene.
