Young Maylay

Early Life

Christopher Bellard, known professionally as Young Maylay, was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Growing up in a poverty-stricken neighborhood rife with crime, he was heavily influenced by gang violence and gangsta rap, which inspired his future career in music. He is closely related to the entertainment industry, being the younger cousin of actor and rapper Shawn Fonteno, who voiced Franklin Clinton in the video game Grand Theft Auto V.

Music Career

Young Maylay's music career began to take shape in 2000 when he was 21 years old. His first notable appearance was in Killa Tay's track "#1 Hottest Coast (Killa Cali)". He gained further recognition by contributing to Rodney-O & Joe Cooley's "Summer Heat" in 2002 and writing for King T's album "Ruthless Chronicles". In 2005, he founded his independent label, leveraging earnings from his role in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and released his debut mixtape.

In 2006, he collaborated with Deeyah Khan on the single "What Will It Be" and worked with DJ Crazy Toones and WC on various projects. His studio album, "The Real Coast Guard," was released in 2008 after being signed to Lench Mob Records, a label founded by Ice Cube and WC. Since then, Young Maylay has been recognized as a veteran in the hip-hop scene and continues to work on multiple studio albums alongside WC and Crazy Toones.
