Early Life

Zachary David Alexander Efron was born on October 18, 1987, in Arroyo Grande, California. He grew up in a middle-class family, with his father, David Efron, working as an electrical engineer and his mother, Starla Baskett, as an administrative assistant. Efron has a younger sister and two younger brothers, including Dylan Efron. He was raised in a Jewish household but practiced agnosticism during his childhood. Efron was a dedicated student, striving for top grades, and also showcased his talent for performance early on, participating in local theater productions and taking singing lessons.

Career

Efron began his acting career in the early 2000s, landing guest roles in television series such as "Firefly" and "ER." His breakthrough came with the Disney Channel's "High School Musical" in 2006, where he played Troy Bolton, a role that catapulted him to teen idol status.
