Željko Joksimović

Early Life

Željko Joksimović was born on April 20, 1972, in Belgrade, Serbia, and spent his formative years in Valjevo. His musical journey began at a young age, achieving international recognition at just 12 years old when he won the title of First Accordion of Europe at a prestigious music festival in Paris. He later graduated from the University of Belgrade, where he honed his musical skills and knowledge.

Career

Joksimović launched his professional music career in 1997, quickly making a name for himself in the Serbian pop and folk-pop scene. His debut album, "Amajlija," released in 1999, featured the hit single "7 godina," which topped charts across the former Yugoslavia. His success continued to grow, culminating in a Grand Prix win at the International Festival of Arts Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk, Belarus, in the same year. Joksimović gained further fame in 2004 with his Eurovision entry "Lane Moje," which became a fan favorite and is often regarded as one of the best non-winning songs in the contest's history.
