Early Life

Elefthería Eleftheríou was born and raised in Frenaros, Cyprus, where she developed a passion for the arts from a young age. She began her musical journey at the age of nine by taking courses at a conservatory, learning piano, music theory, and harmony. By the age of 15, she was taking voice lessons and soon became a soloist in the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation's national folk orchestra. Her early ambition led her to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "Play That Melody to Me," where she finished seventh in the national final. Undeterred, she pursued further studies in music and performance at the University of Surrey, while also performing in local productions, including a season in the musical "Rent."

Career

Eleftheriou's career took a significant turn when she auditioned for the Greek version of The X Factor in 2009, where she received unanimous praise from the judges. Despite being a favorite, she was eliminated during the fifth live episode. Following her exit, she was offered a performance opportunity by host Sakis Rouvas, which she accepted. Shortly after, Sony Music Greece signed her and proposed her as a candidate for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010. However, her song "Tables are Turning" was leaked online, leading to her disqualification from the national final. Despite these setbacks, she continued to release singles, including "Aphrodisiac," "Taxidi stin vrochi," and "Eternally," establishing herself as a prominent figure in the pop music scene.

Throughout her career, Elefthería has been recognized with various awards and nominations, including accolades from the MAD Video Music Awards and the Cyprus Music Awards. Her contributions to music and her resilience in the face of challenges have solidified her status as a beloved artist in Cyprus and beyond.
