Early Life

Kristian Konstantinov Kostov was born in Moscow to a Kazakh mother and a Bulgarian father, which influenced his multicultural upbringing. He has an older brother, Daniel, and a younger sister, Sofia. Growing up, he learned multiple languages, including Bulgarian from his father, English from his brother, and Kazakh from his grandfather, showcasing his diverse heritage.

Career

Kostov's musical journey began at a young age when he participated in the first season of The Voice Kids Russia, where he was mentored by the famous singer Dima Bilan. His talent shone through, leading him to the finals. Following this success, he auditioned for the fourth season of X Factor Bulgaria, where he became a finalist, performing various songs that highlighted his vocal prowess. In 2016, he signed with Virginia Records and released his debut single "Ne si za men," which peaked at number 13 on the Bulgarian Singles Chart.

His career reached new heights when he represented Bulgaria in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with his song "Beautiful Mess," finishing in second place. This achievement not only solidified his status as a prominent artist but also earned him the EBBA Public Choice award in January 2018. In 2019, he continued to showcase his talent by participating in the seventh season of the Chinese singing competition, Singer.

Personal Life

In addition to his musical achievements, Kostov's personal life has also been marked by significant events. Notably, he witnessed the tragic Aeroflot Flight 1492 accident at Sheremetyevo International Airport in May 2019. Kostov identifies as gay, adding another layer to his personal narrative in the public eye.
