Early Life

Kim Da-hyun, known mononymously as Dahyun, was born on May 28, 1998, in Seongnam, Gyeonggi, South Korea. Growing up in a supportive family with an older brother, she developed a passion for music early on, singing in her church choir and participating in school talent shows. Initially considering careers as a piano teacher or a prosecutor, Dahyun ultimately pursued her dream in entertainment, graduating from Hanlim Multi Art School in 2017.

Career

Dahyun's journey in the music industry began when she gained attention in sixth grade for her performance of the "eagle dance" at her church, which went viral on YouTube. After auditioning for major agencies, she chose to join JYP Entertainment, where she trained for over three years. In 2015, she debuted as a member of the girl group TWICE with the EP "The Story Begins," featuring the hit single "Like Ooh-Ahh," which made history as the first K-pop debut song to reach 100 million views on YouTube. Beyond her music career, Dahyun has also ventured into acting and variety shows, showcasing her versatility as an entertainer.

Artistic Development

Dahyun is recognized for her musical talents, including her absolute pitch and proficiency in playing the piano and drums. She began contributing lyrics to TWICE's songs in 2017, with her songwriting becoming more prominent in subsequent releases.
