Early Life

Tamara Todevska, known simply as Tamara, was born in Skopje, North Macedonia, into a musically inclined family. Her father, Velko Todevski, is a professor at a music school, while her mother, Brana, is a Bosnian Serb opera singer. This rich musical environment greatly influenced Tamara's artistic development, particularly her deep, operatic vocal style. She has an older sister, Tijana Dapčević, who is also a well-known singer.

Career

Tamara's music career began in earnest in 1997 with her first official song, a duet with her sister titled "Igra luda" (Crazy game). However, it was her performance of "1003" at the Budva festival in Montenegro in 2003 that marked her breakthrough, where she secured second place. In 2005, she released her debut album, "Sino" (Blue), which won Album of the Year and featured several hits, including "Molci, molci" and "Ljubovna prikazna".

Tamara gained national recognition when she won the Skopje Fest 2008 with the song "Vo ime na ljubovta," which led to her representing North Macedonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008. Although she did not qualify for the final, her subsequent participation in the 2019 contest with the song "Proud" was a significant success, earning her seventh place and the jury vote, marking North Macedonia's best result in the competition.

Personal Life

In her personal life, Tamara married former basketball player Aleksandar Dimitrovski in 2015, and they have two children, a daughter named Hana and a son named Daren. However, the couple divorced after seven years of marriage. Tamara continues to be a prominent figure in the Macedonian music scene, celebrated for her contributions and vocal talent.
