Jintara Poonlarp, born in Thailand's Isan region, is a celebrated Thai singer known for her contributions to the mor lam, luk thung, and pop music genres. Although her birth date is often cited as March 12, 1971, she officially celebrates her birthday on March 6, a date that appears on her ID card. Her birth name was Tongbai Janlueang, which changed to Tongbai Poonlarp when her parents registered their marriage. Growing up in a rural area, Jintara's early life was marked by the challenges typical of her environment, which would later influence her music.

Career

Jintara began her musical journey in her early teens, quickly establishing herself in the Thai music scene. She recorded 20 audio-only tracks for GMM Grammy and later five more for Master Tape, leading to a prolific career that includes numerous albums and greatest hits collections. Her music often blends luk thung and mor lam styles, with notable songs like "Sǎo Isǎan plát tìn" and collaborations with famous artists such as Thongchai McIntyre. Jintara's performances are characterized by their vibrant energy, and she tours extensively, performing live shows from September to May each year, including appearances in Europe and North America.

Personal Life

In addition to her music career, Jintara pursued higher education, enrolling in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University in Bangkok in 2004. She was expected to graduate in 2006 and was even rumored to consider a political career as a member of the Chart Thai party. In recognition of her contributions, she received an honorary degree from Roi Et Rajabhat University in 2004. Jintara's life reflects a blend of artistic passion and a commitment to personal growth, making her a beloved figure in Thai culture.
