Early Life

Amanda Joy "AJ" Michalka was born on April 10, 1991, in Torrance, California. She is the younger sister of actress and musician Aly Michalka. Growing up in a musically inclined family, her father, Mark, owned a contracting company, while her mother, Carrie, was a musician who performed with the Christian rock band "JC Band." AJ's early exposure to music began at the age of six when she started playing the piano, and she later picked up the guitar. Raised as a Christian, she was homeschooled for part of her childhood and participated in various musical productions during her schooling in Milwaukee.

Career

AJ Michalka's career in entertainment began in the early 2000s when she worked as a model for catalogs. She made her Disney Channel debut in 2006 with the movie "Cow Belles," alongside her sister Aly. The duo later formed the musical group Aly & AJ, which was initially known as 78violet from 2009 to 2013 before reverting to their original name. Michalka has also appeared in several television shows, including a recurring role on the ABC sitcom "The Goldbergs" as Lainey Lewis, and she starred in the film "Grace Unplugged" in 2013.
