Andrew Lambrou

Early Life

Andrew Harry Lambrou was born in Sydney, Australia, to a Greek Cypriot family, with one grandfather hailing from Paphos, Cyprus, and roots from Lemnos, Greece. His musical journey began at the tender age of five when he won first place in an eisteddfod with a performance of "Do-Re-Mi" from The Sound of Music. Recognizing his talent, his mother enrolled him in music school, nurturing his early inclination towards music.

Career

Lambrou's career took off in 2013 when he uploaded a cover of Evanescence's "My Immortal" to YouTube, which garnered significant attention. A brief cover of Sam Smith's "Stay With Me" on Instagram further boosted his popularity, earning him over 2,000 followers overnight. In 2015, he participated in the seventh season of The X Factor Australia, reaching the top 20 before being eliminated. After years of sharing viral covers, he began writing his own music, catching the eye of Sony ATV and signing with them in 2017. This partnership allowed him to hone his musical skills and collaborate with various artists.

In 2021, Lambrou signed with City Pop Records and released his debut single "Throne," which was praised as a compelling introduction to his artistry. He followed this with the singles "Lemonade" and "Confidence," showcasing his growth as a songwriter. His participation in Eurovision – Australia Decides culminated in representing Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, marking a significant milestone in his career.
