Anette Olzon

Early Life

Anette Ingegerd Olsson, known professionally as Anette Olzon, was born and raised in a musical family in Sweden. From a young age, she was immersed in music, singing alongside her mother in her band and taking up the oboe for eight years. Her early experiences included participating in talent shows and joining various bands, with her first significant role being in the rock opera "Gränsland" at the age of 21. Olzon honed her vocal skills through formal training at the Copenhagen Music Conservatory and Malmö Music University, while also juggling various jobs, including working as a waitress and a hairdresser.

Career

Olzon's music career took off when she joined the band Alyson Avenue in 1999, initially as a studio singer before becoming the lead vocalist. The band gained recognition with their debut album "Presence of Mind" in 2000 and continued to release music until her departure in 2006. In 2007, she made a significant leap in her career by joining the Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish, chosen from over 2,000 applicants. Her tenure with Nightwish lasted until 2012, during which she contributed to the band's distinctive sound and helped them reach new heights in the metal genre. After leaving Nightwish, Olzon continued her musical journey with the Finnish heavy metal band The Dark Element.

Personal Life

Outside of her music career, Anette Olzon is a devoted family woman. She resides in Helsingborg with her husband, Johan Husgafvel, and their three sons. Balancing her artistic pursuits with family life, she has also pursued a career in nursing, showcasing her diverse talents and commitment to helping others. Olzon's influences include renowned artists like Celine Dion and Natalie Cole, and she has expressed admiration for fellow symphonic metal vocalists, reflecting her deep appreciation for the genre.
