Early Life

Anna Cooke Kendrick was born on August 9, 1985, in Portland, Maine, to Janice, an accountant, and William, a history teacher. She has English, Irish, and Scottish ancestry and began her journey in the performing arts at the tender age of six, participating in community theater. Kendrick attended Deering High School and has an older brother, Michael, who is also an actor.

Career

Kendrick's professional career took off when she was just 12 years old, landing a supporting role in the Broadway musical "High Society," which earned her a Theatre World Award. She made her film debut in the musical "Camp" (2003), where her performance garnered her an Independent Spirit Award nomination. However, it was her role as Jessica Stanley in the blockbuster "Twilight" series that catapulted her to fame. Kendrick continued to impress audiences with her performance in "Up in the Air" (2009), earning nominations for several prestigious awards, including the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In her memoir, "Scrappy Little Nobody," she candidly discusses her views on motherhood, stating, "Motherhood isn't for me," and reflects on her experiences, including an emotionally abusive relationship that influenced her performance in the film "Alice, Darling."
