Rebbeca Marie Gomez, known professionally as Becky G, was born on March 2, 1997, in Inglewood, California. As the oldest of four children in a family of Mexican descent, she faced financial hardships early on, which led her family to move into her grandparents' garage after losing their home. This challenging upbringing instilled in her a strong desire to support her family, prompting her to pursue a music career at a young age. By the age of nine, she was already working part-time jobs, including commercials and voice-over work, to help her family.

Career

Becky G first gained recognition in 2011 through her YouTube covers of popular songs. Her debut single, "Becky from the Block," and her EP, "Play It Again," were released in 2013, but it was her 2014 hit "Shower" that catapulted her to mainstream success, reaching the top twenty on the US Billboard Hot 100.
