Brendon Urie

Early Life

Brendon Boyd Urie was born on April 12, 1987, in St. George, Utah, and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, at the age of two. He is the youngest of five children in his family and has a quarter Polynesian heritage through his mother. Raised in an LDS family, Urie distanced himself from the church at 17 due to ideological differences. He attended Palo Verde High School, where he described himself as a "spaz" and faced bullying. To support his band, he worked at Tropical Smoothie Cafe, often singing for customers, and graduated high school in 2005.

Career

Urie's music career began in 2004 when he joined Panic! at the Disco, initially as a guitarist and vocalist. He quickly became the lead singer after impressing the band with his vocal abilities. The band released their debut album, "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out," in 2005, featuring the hit single "I Write Sins Not Tragedies." Over the years, Urie has been the sole constant member of the band, contributing to seven studio albums. His songwriting skills shone through in tracks like "I Have Friends in Holy Spaces" and "New Perspective." In 2014, he won the Alternative Press Music Award for Best Vocalist, solidifying his status in the music industry.

Personal Life

Urie has been open about his mental health, having been diagnosed with ADHD and synesthesia. He married esthetician Sarah Orzechowski in 2013, and they welcomed their first child in January 2023. Urie identifies as pansexual, expressing that he values individuals over gender. His personal experiences and relationships have influenced his music, including the song "Sarah Smiles," inspired by his wife. As of early 2023, Urie announced his decision to discontinue Panic! at the Disco to focus on his family, marking a new chapter in his life.
