Formation

Panic! at the Disco was formed in 2004 in Summerlin, Las Vegas, by high school friends Ryan Ross and Spencer Smith. They were soon joined by bassist Brent Wilson and his friend Brendon Urie, who would eventually become the band's lead vocalist. Initially a Blink-182 cover band, they adopted their name from a line in a song by Name Taken. The group quickly gained attention, signing a recording contract before even performing live, and began to carve out a unique sound that contrasted with the heavier music scene in Las Vegas.

Key Releases and Lineup Changes

The band released their debut album, "A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out," in 2005, which included the hit single "I Write Sins Not Tragedies." Over the years, Panic! at the Disco underwent several lineup changes, with Ryan Ross and Spencer Smith departing in 2009 and 2015, respectively. Brendon Urie remained the sole constant member, steering the band through various musical styles, including pop rock, baroque pop, and synth-pop. Their discography includes notable albums such as "Pretty. Odd.", "Death of a Bachelor," and "Pray for the Wicked."

Disbandment and Legacy

After nearly two decades of success, Panic! at the Disco officially disbanded on March 10, 2023. Throughout their career, they received numerous accolades, including the Alternative Press Music Award for Artist of the Year. The band's eclectic sound and theatrical performances have left a lasting impact on the pop rock genre, influencing a new generation of artists and fans alike.
