Early Life

Carlos Jaime Alazraqui was born on July 20, 1962, in Yonkers, New York, to Argentine parents. He has Sephardic Jewish heritage from his father and was raised by a Methodist priest mother. At a young age, his family moved to Concord, California, where he graduated from Concord High School. Alazraqui attended California State University, Sacramento from 1982 to 1986, where he began honing his comedic skills by competing in open mic contests. After winning one of these contests in his fourth year, he used his prize money to relocate to Los Angeles to pursue a career in entertainment.

Career

Alazraqui's career began in stand-up comedy, where he gained recognition by winning the San Francisco Comedy Competition in 1993, outperforming notable comedians like Marc Maron and Patton Oswalt. He later joined the Sexy Liberal Comedy Tour in 2014 and has a recurring segment on The Stephanie Miller Show. In television, he is best known for his role as Deputy James Garcia on the comedy series "Reno 911!" from 2003 to 2008, and he reprised this role in various spin-offs and specials. Alazraqui is also a prolific voice actor, lending his voice to characters in popular animated series such as Rocko in "Rocko's Modern Life," Denzel Crocker in "The Fairly OddParents," and the Taco Bell chihuahua in commercials.

Carlos Alazraqui currently resides in Los Angeles, California, with his wife and two daughters. His daughter, Rylee, has followed in his footsteps as a voice actor, voicing Rohk-Tahk in the Paramount+ series "Star Trek: Prodigy." Alazraqui's diverse talents in acting, comedy, and voice work have made him a beloved figure in the entertainment industry, showcasing his versatility across various mediums.
