Early Life

China Anne McClain was born on August 25, 1998, in Decatur, Georgia. Growing up in a musically inclined family, her father, Michael McClain, is a music producer, and her mother, Shontell, is a songwriter and former screenwriter. China has two older sisters, Sierra and Lauryn, who are also actresses and singers, and a younger brother, Gabriel. This nurturing environment fostered her early interest in music and performance.

Career

McClain's career took off at the young age of seven when she was discovered by a music executive while singing. This led to her auditioning for the film "The Gospel" (2005), where she made her acting debut. She gained further recognition for her role as Jazmine Payne in the sitcom "Tyler Perry's House of Payne" and starred in the comedy films "Grown Ups" (2010) and its sequel. However, it was her role as Chyna Parks in the Disney Channel series "A.N.T. Farm" (2011-2014) that catapulted her to fame. McClain also showcased her musical talent with singles like "Calling All the Monsters" and "Something Real" from Disney productions. In addition to her work in film and television, she starred as Uma in the "Descendants" franchise and played Jennifer Pierce in the CW series "Black Lightning" (2018-2021).

Personal Life

In 2014, China and her sisters launched a YouTube channel, Thriii, where they shared singing videos and challenges, amassing a significant following. By 2020, she had also gained popularity on TikTok, where she showcased her makeup transformations and lip-syncing skills, attracting over 17 million followers. McClain cites her parents as her biggest influences, and her artistic journey continues to evolve as she explores new avenues in music and performance.
