Early Life

Christopher Joseph Isaak was born on June 26, 1956, in Stockton, California, to Dorothy and Joseph Isaak, who had Italian and German ancestry. He attended Amos Alonzo Stagg High School, where he was class president and valedictorian of the class of 1974. Isaak later graduated from the University of the Pacific in 1981 with a degree in English and communications arts. After college, he formed his first band, Silvertone, which became his permanent backing group.

Career

Isaak's music career began in earnest when he signed with Warner Bros. Records in 1985, releasing his debut album, "Silvertone," which garnered critical acclaim despite modest sales. His self-titled follow-up album in 1987 reached the Billboard 200, showcasing his evolution towards a more sophisticated R&B sound. Isaak's breakout hit, "Wicked Game," released in 1989 on the album "Heart Shaped World," became a defining moment in his career, further popularized by its inclusion in the film "Wild at Heart." Over the years, he has released numerous albums, including "San Francisco Days," "Forever Blue," and "Mr. Lucky," solidifying his status as a prominent figure in the pop music genre.

Personal Life

Despite his fame, Isaak has remained a lifelong bachelor, often humorously stating that his longest relationship is with his band. He has expressed that his dedication to music has overshadowed personal relationships. Isaak enjoys drawing and exploring secondhand shops, reflecting his artistic nature beyond music. He is also known for his friendships with notable figures like Stevie Nicks and filmmaker David Lynch, highlighting his connections within the entertainment industry.
