Connie Britton, born Constance Elaine Womack in Boston, Massachusetts, grew up in a family that valued education and the arts. Her father, Edgar Allen Womack, Jr., was a physicist and energy company executive, while her mother, Linda Jane Cochran, nurtured her creative spirit. Britton spent her formative years in Rockville, Maryland, before moving to Lynchburg, Virginia, where she attended E. C. Glass High School. There, she honed her acting skills in school plays and later pursued a degree in Asian studies at Dartmouth College, where she also studied Chinese. After graduating in 1989, she moved to New York City to study at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre.
