Early Life

Corey Todd Taylor was born on December 8, 1973, in Des Moines, Iowa, and was primarily raised by his single mother in Waterloo, Iowa. He experienced a transient childhood, moving around the country in search of job opportunities, having lived in 25 states by the age of 15. His early exposure to music came from his grandmother, who introduced him to Elvis Presley, and he later developed a passion for rock music, particularly Black Sabbath. Taylor's interest in music was further ignited after watching a performance by Faith No More at the 1990 MTV Video Music Awards, which inspired him to pursue a career in music.

Music Career

Taylor is best known as the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Slipknot, where he is designated as #8. He is also the lead vocalist and guitarist for the rock band Stone Sour, which he co-founded in 1992. Stone Sour released their self-titled debut album in 2002, which debuted at number 46 on the Billboard 200. Taylor's vocal style, characterized by melodic singing and aggressive growling, has earned him recognition as one of the top metal vocalists.
