Formation

Cream was formed in July 1966 in London, emerging as a British rock supergroup that brought together three highly talented musicians: bassist Jack Bruce, guitarist Eric Clapton, and drummer Ginger Baker. Each member had previously achieved success in other bands, with Clapton being renowned for his work with the Yardbirds and John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers. The collaboration was born out of a mutual desire to break free from the constraints of their previous musical environments, leading to a dynamic fusion of rock, blues, and jazz influences.

Breakthrough
