Early Life

Dami Im was born on October 17, 1988, in Seoul, South Korea, to Lee Hae-yun, a trained opera singer, and Im Dong-eal. At the age of nine, she emigrated to Australia with her mother and younger brother, seeking better opportunities. Settling in Brisbane, Dami began her musical journey early, learning piano at five and teaching herself to sing by mimicking her favorite artists. She attended John Paul College and later graduated from the University of Queensland with first-class honors in Music, followed by a Master’s degree in contemporary voice from Griffith University.

Career

Dami's career took off after she participated in the fifth season of The X Factor Australia in 2013, where her powerful performances captivated audiences and judges alike. She released her debut album, "Dream," in 2010, and later gained international recognition by representing Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with her song "Sound of Silence," where she placed second, achieving the highest score for Australia in the competition. Over the years, she has released several albums, including "Heart Beats" and "Classic Carpenters," and singles like "Alive" and "I Am Australian."

Personal Life

Dami Im married her husband Noah Kim on September 15, 2012, in Seoul, and they welcomed a son in 2022. The couple resides in Daisy Hill, Queensland, where Dami has been recognized as a cultural ambassador for Logan City. Known for her love of food, particularly her mother's Korean dishes, Dami enjoys cooking and has a passion for sweets. Her artistic influences include K-pop and iconic artists like Beyoncé and Mariah Carey, which have shaped her unique sound and style in the music industry.
