Dan Brown

Early Life

Daniel Gerhard Brown was born on June 22, 1964, in Exeter, New Hampshire. He grew up in a family deeply connected to education and music; his father, Richard G. Brown, was a mathematics teacher at Phillips Exeter Academy, while his mother, Constance, was a trained church organist. Brown attended public schools until the ninth grade and spent much of his childhood on the academy's campus. His upbringing was steeped in religious tradition, but he began to question these beliefs during his teenage years, ultimately identifying as agnostic.

Career

Before becoming a renowned novelist, Brown explored a career in music. He created a children's cassette titled "SynthAnimals" and later formed his own record company, Dalliance, releasing a CD called "Perspective". In 1991, he moved to Hollywood to pursue music full-time while teaching at Beverly Hills Preparatory School. His musical journey led him to join the National Academy of Songwriters, where he met his future wife, Blythe Newlon. Although he released a CD titled "Angels & Demons" in 1994, it was his writing that would eventually bring him fame. Brown is best known for his thriller novels, particularly the Robert Langdon series, which includes bestsellers like "The Da Vinci Code" and "Inferno".

Personal Life

Brown's personal life has seen its share of ups and downs. He married Blythe Newlon in 1997, but their relationship ended in a highly publicized divorce in 2019, following allegations of infidelity. Despite the tumultuous end to his marriage, Brown has continued to engage in charitable work, including significant donations to Phillips Exeter Academy and the Ritman Library in Amsterdam. As of 2021, he has been linked to Dutch equestrian Judith Pietersen, whom he refers to as his fiancée in his acknowledgments for his upcoming novel, "The Secret of Secrets".
