Early Life

David James Archuleta was born on December 28, 1990, in Miami, Florida, to a musically inclined family. His mother, Guadalupe Mayorga, was a salsa singer and dancer from Honduras, while his father, Jeff Archuleta, was a jazz musician of Spanish, Danish, Irish, and German descent. Growing up in a household rich in music, Archuleta began singing at the age of six, inspired by a video of the musical Les Misérables. He won the children's division of the Utah Talent Competition at ten, which paved the way for his future in music. His family moved to Sandy, Utah, when he was six, and he later attended Murray High School.
