Formation

Il Volo, an Italian operatic pop trio, was formed in 2009, consisting of Gianluca Ginoble, Piero Barone, and Ignazio Boschetto. The trio emerged from the Italian televised singing competition "Ti lascio una canzone," where they initially competed as solo artists. Their first performance together was a rendition of the classic Neapolitan song "'O sole mio," which showcased their harmonious blend and vocal prowess. The group was created with the vision of emulating the success of The Three Tenors, and they quickly captured the attention of music producers and audiences alike.

Breakthrough

Il Volo's breakthrough came in 2015 when they won the prestigious Sanremo Music Festival with their powerful ballad "Grande amore."
