Formation

INXS, an iconic Australian rock band, was formed on August 16, 1977, in Sydney, originally under the name The Farriss Brothers. The founding members included lead vocalist Michael Hutchence, keyboardist Andrew Farriss, drummer Jon Farriss, guitarist Tim Farriss, bassist Garry Gary Beers, and guitarist/saxophonist Kirk Pengilly. The band made their debut performance at Whale Beach, showcasing their unique blend of rock, new wave, and funk influences.

Breakthrough and Success

The band achieved significant success in the 1980s with a series of hit albums, including "Kick" and "Listen Like Thieves," which solidified their place in the music industry. INXS's sound evolved over the years, incorporating elements of dance-rock and pub rock, which resonated with a wide audience.
