Early Life

Jennie Kim, known mononymously as Jennie, was born on January 16, 1996, in Bundang, Seongnam, South Korea. As an only child, she moved to New Zealand at the age of eight, where she attended Waikowhai Intermediate School and later ACG Parnell College. During her time in New Zealand, Jennie developed a passion for K-pop, particularly the music of YG Entertainment. After returning to South Korea in 2010, she successfully auditioned for YG Entertainment, marking the beginning of her journey in the music industry.

Career

Jennie's career took off when she was introduced as a trainee by YG Entertainment in 2012, quickly gaining attention as the "Mystery Girl". She made her first public appearance in G-Dragon's music video "That XX" and featured in several tracks by other artists, showcasing her versatility as a singer and rapper. In August 2016, she debuted as a member of BLACKPINK, one of the most successful girl groups in K-pop history. Jennie has also pursued a solo career, releasing singles such as "SOLO" and "You & Me", and her recent album, "Ruby", has further solidified her status as a prominent artist in the industry.
