Early Life

Kim Ji-soo, known mononymously as Jisoo, was born on January 3, 1995, in Gunpo, South Korea. Growing up in a family with an older brother and sister, she was active in sports, playing basketball and practicing taekwondo. Initially aspiring to be a painter and writer, Jisoo was also a fan of the boy group TVXQ. She attended the School of Performing Arts Seoul, where she joined a drama club in 11th grade, gaining valuable experience in the entertainment industry through auditions. Jisoo is multilingual, fluent in Korean, Chinese, and Japanese.

Career Beginnings

In 2011, Jisoo joined YG Entertainment as a trainee after successfully passing auditions. Her early career included appearances in music videos, such as Epik High's "Spoiler + Happen Ending" in 2014 and Hi Suhyun's "I'm Different". In 2015, she made a cameo in the KBS2 drama "The Producers", showcasing her versatility beyond music.

Rise to Fame with BLACKPINK

Jisoo debuted as a member of BLACKPINK on August 8, 2016, alongside fellow members Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa. The group quickly rose to prominence, becoming one of the best-selling girl groups of all time. Their debut single album, featuring hits like "Whistle" and "Boombayah", topped charts in South Korea and solidified their global presence. Jisoo's contributions to the group have been pivotal, and she continues to explore solo endeavors, including her recent singles like "ME" and "FLOWER".
