John Stamos

Early Life

John Phillip Stamos was born on August 19, 1963, in Cypress, California, to a Greek-American family. His father, William "Bill" Stamos, was a restaurateur, and his mother, Loretta Phillips, supported his aspirations from a young age. Stamos worked in his father's restaurants and flipped burgers as a teenager. His passion for music was ignited at 15 when he attended his first Beach Boys concert, which would later lead to him touring with the band. Although he planned to attend Cypress College, he chose to pursue acting instead, landing his first role on the soap opera General Hospital just three weeks after making the decision.

Career

Stamos's acting career began in 1982 with his role as Blackie Parrish on General Hospital, earning him a Daytime Emmy nomination in 1983. He later starred in the short-lived sitcom Dreams, where he played an aspiring musician. However, it was his iconic role as Jesse Katsopolis on the beloved sitcom Full House that solidified his fame. Stamos's character, who embraced his Greek heritage, became a fan favorite, and the show ran from the late 1980s until 1995. Beyond acting, Stamos is also a talented musician, playing guitar, drums, and singing, and has released singles like "Afternoon Delight" and "Forever."

Personal Life

Stamos has had a colorful personal life, including a marriage to model Rebecca Romijn, which lasted from 1998 to 2005. He is a passionate advocate for children, serving as the national spokesperson for Project Cuddle. In 2017, he announced his engagement to actress Caitlin McHugh, and they welcomed their first child in April 2018. Stamos also launched a jewelry line, with proceeds benefiting the Childhelp foundation, showcasing his commitment to philanthropy.
