Early Life

Jordin Brianna Sparks Smith was born on December 22, 1989, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Jodi Wiedmann Sparks and former professional football player Phillippi Sparks. Growing up in a diverse family, Jordin has a younger brother, Phillippi "PJ" Sparks Jr., who played football at Arizona Christian University. She spent her early years in Ridgewood, New Jersey, before returning to Phoenix, where she attended Northwest Community Christian School and later Sandra Day O'Connor High School. To focus on her singing career, she was homeschooled by her grandmother, Pam Wiedmann. An evangelical Christian, Sparks often expressed gratitude to her family and God for her achievements.

Career

Sparks' musical journey began at a young age, winning various talent competitions, including Coca-Cola's Rising Star and America's Most Talented Kids. She gained national fame after winning the sixth season of American Idol in 2007 at just 17 years old, making her the youngest winner in the show's history. In 2017, she married fitness model Dana Isaiah in Hawaii, and the couple welcomed their first child, a son, in May 2018.
