Early Life

Terius Youngdell Nash, known professionally as The-Dream, was born on September 20, 1977, in Rockingham, North Carolina. At the age of two, he moved with his mother to Atlanta, Georgia. His musical journey began early; he learned to play the trumpet in elementary school and later picked up the drums and guitar. The tragic loss of his mother in 1992 at the age of fifteen profoundly impacted him, inspiring him to write songs. This experience fostered a deep empathy for women, motivating him to create empowering music, such as Rihanna's iconic hit "Umbrella." After his mother's passing, he moved in with his grandfather, who instilled a strong work ethic in him, shaping his outlook on life.

Music Career

The-Dream's career took off in the early 2000s when he met producer Laney Stewart, leading to a publishing deal after writing for B2K. Under the moniker The-Dream, he began crafting hits for various artists, including Britney Spears and Nivea. His breakthrough came with the release of his debut album, "Love/Hate," in 2007, which featured successful singles like "Shawty Is a 10" and "Falsetto." The album was well-received, earning him the BET Award for Best New Artist in 2008. He continued to build his legacy with subsequent albums, including "Love Vs Money" and "Love King," solidifying his status as a prominent figure in contemporary R&B.

Personal Life

The-Dream's personal life has been as colorful as his music career. He has nine children from four different relationships. He married singer Nivea in December 2004, with whom he shares three children. However, their marriage ended in divorce in 2008. Shortly after, he began dating Christina Milian, marrying her in September 2009. Despite the ups and downs in his relationships, The-Dream has remained committed to his craft and family, often reflecting on the lessons learned from his experiences in love and life.
