Joseph “Joe” Hahn

Early Life

Joseph "Joe" Hahn was born in Dallas, Texas, as the youngest of three children in a Korean American family. Growing up in a predominantly Mexican neighborhood in Glendale, California, he was exposed to a rich tapestry of cultural influences. As a child, Hahn explored music by playing the violin and later experimenting with the guitar. He graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in Glendale and pursued studies in illustration at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, although he did not complete his degree.

Career

Hahn's musical journey began in high school when he started deejaying. His passion for music led him to meet Mike Shinoda, with whom he formed the band Xero, which later evolved into Linkin Park. The band released their groundbreaking album "Hybrid Theory" in 1999, which catapulted them to fame. As the DJ and creative director of Linkin Park, Hahn was instrumental in shaping the band's sound and visual identity, contributing to all eight of their albums. He is also known for his work on the remix album "Reanimation" and for directing several of the band's iconic music videos, including "Numb" and "What I've Done." Beyond music, Hahn has expressed a deep passion for filmmaking, having worked on special effects for projects like "The X-Files."
