Early Life

Kurt Vogel Russell was born on March 17, 1951, in Springfield, Massachusetts, to Bing Russell, an actor, and Louise Julia Russell, a dancer. He grew up in Thousand Oaks, California, where he developed a passion for baseball, playing on his high school team and even signing a minor league contract in 1971. However, a shoulder injury in 1973 ended his baseball aspirations. Russell also served in the California Air National Guard from 1969 to 1975, belonging to the 146th Tactical Airlift Wing.

Career

Russell's acting career began as a child actor, making his film debut in "It Happened at the World's Fair" alongside Elvis Presley. He gained prominence in the 1960s with roles in various television series, including the title role in the ABC Western series "The Travels of Jaimie McPheeters". In 1966, he signed a ten-year contract with Walt Disney Productions, becoming one of the studio's top stars in the 1970s. His collaborations with renowned filmmakers like John Carpenter and Quentin Tarantino have solidified his status in Hollywood. Russell has received numerous accolades, including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Disney Legends award.

Personal Life

In 1979, Russell married actress Season Hubley, with whom he had a son, Boston. After their divorce, he began a long-term relationship with actress Goldie Hawn, with whom he shares a son, Wyatt. The couple has lived in various locations, including Vancouver and Palm Desert, and has chosen not to marry, believing that their bond does not require a certificate. Russell is known for his libertarian views and is an advocate for gun rights. He is also a licensed private pilot and was inducted into the Living Legends of Aviation in 2010, receiving the "Aviation Mentor Award" from John Travolta.
