Early Life

Lewis Marc Capaldi was born on October 7, 1996, in Glasgow, Scotland. He spent his early years in the city before moving to East Whitburn in West Lothian at the age of four. Coming from a diverse background with Scottish, Irish, and Italian ancestry, Lewis grew up in a lively household as the youngest of four siblings. His passion for music ignited at a young age when he performed on stage at just four years old during a family trip to France. By the age of nine, he had learned to play the guitar and began writing songs, often sneaking into local pubs to perform with the help of his eldest brother.

Career

Capaldi's music career began to take shape in 2014 when he participated in a three-date tour as part of the Hit the Road project. His big break came when his manager discovered him through an iPhone recording on SoundCloud. In 2017, he released his debut single "Bruises," which quickly gained traction, making him the fastest unsigned artist to reach 25 million plays on Spotify. This success led to a record deal with Universal Music Group and the release of his EP "Bloom." His single "Someone You Loved" became a massive hit, topping charts in the UK and the US, and earned him multiple awards, including the Brit Award for Song of the Year in 2020.

Personal Life

Despite his success, Capaldi has faced personal challenges, including anxiety and Tourette syndrome, which he publicly revealed in 2022. He has a close relationship with his family and often returns to his roots in Whitburn. In 2023, he released a documentary titled "How I'm Feeling Now" on Netflix, providing insight into his life and struggles. Capaldi is also known for his love of football, supporting Celtic F.C., and has familial ties to actor Peter Capaldi, who appeared in his music video for "Someone You Loved."
