Michał Szpak

Early Life

Michał Szpak was born in Jasło, a quaint town in southern Poland. He grew up in a family with a rich musical background; his older sister, Marlena, is an opera singer. After his parents' separation when he was just ten, Michał and his siblings remained in Poland with their father while their mother moved to Italy for work. This early life experience shaped Michał, who found support in his brother Damian and drew inspiration from iconic artists like Queen, David Bowie, and Michael Jackson. Despite his passion for music, he never took formal lessons, instead honing his craft in a high school hard rock band called Whiplash. Currently, he resides in Warsaw, pursuing a degree in psychology at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Career

Michał's rise to fame began in 2011 when he participated in the inaugural season of Poland's The X Factor, where he captivated audiences with his rendition of Czesław Niemen's "Dziwny jest ten świat." His journey continued as he reached the finals and performed alongside British winner Alexandra Burke. Szpak's debut EP, "XI," was released in December 2011, marking the start of his professional music career. He gained further recognition by participating in the Polish version of Dancing with the Stars, where he finished fifth. In 2016, he represented Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest with his song "Color of Your Life," finishing in eighth place, which solidified his status as a prominent figure in the Polish music scene.
