Amelia Fiona Jessica "Minnie" Driver was born on January 31, 1970, in London, England. She spent her early childhood in Barbados until the age of six, when she returned to the UK. Her mother, Gaynor Churchward, was a fabric designer and former couture model, while her father, Charles Ronald Driver, was a decorated war veteran and director of London United Investments. Despite their relationship, her parents never married, and they separated when Minnie was young. She attended Bedales School in Hampshire and later pursued drama at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art.
