Naomi Scott

Early Life

Naomi Grace Scott was born on May 6, 1993, in Hounslow, London, to a British father, Christopher Scott, and an Indian-origin British mother, Usha Joshi. Her mother emigrated from Uganda to the UK due to the expulsion of South Asians by dictator Idi Amin. Growing up in a religious household, both of her parents were pastors at the Bridge Church, where Naomi was exposed to gospel and R&B music, which greatly influenced her artistic development. She attended Davenant Foundation School in Loughton, Essex, but left midway through her A-Levels to pursue a career in acting.

Career

Scott's career began when she was discovered by British pop singer Kéllé Bryan, leading her to work with notable songwriters and producers. Her breakthrough came in 2011 when she starred in the Disney Channel original film "Lemonade Mouth," where she not only acted but also contributed to the soundtrack, with her song "She's So Gone" being recognized as one of Billboard's "100 Greatest Disney Songs of All Time." Following this, she appeared in the science fiction series "Terra Nova" and later starred in the superhero film "Power Rangers" in 2017. In 2014, she released her debut EP, "Invisible Division," showcasing her musical talents further.

Personal Life

Naomi Scott is a devout Christian and serves as a UK ambassador for the charity Compassion International, helping children and families in poverty. She has a black belt in karate, which she credits for aiding her in action roles. In June 2014, she married English footballer Jordan Spence, whom she met at church when she was just 16 years old. Despite her success, Scott has faced personal challenges, including living with eczema, which she openly discusses.
