Early Life

Adam Michał Darski, known by his stage name Nergal, was born on June 10, 1977, in Gdynia, Poland. Raised in a Catholic environment, he began playing guitar at the tender age of eight, which laid the foundation for his future in music. Nergal's passion for music led him to form the extreme metal band Behemoth during his teenage years, where he took on multiple roles as the founder, lyricist, main composer, frontman, and manager.

Career

Nergal's musical journey is marked by his contributions to various bands, including Wolverine, Hermh, and Vader, showcasing his versatility as a musician. He briefly adopted the alias Holocausto and was influenced by Norway's Black Circle, which inspired him to create the Temple of Infernal Fire. However, he distanced himself from the group due to its political affiliations. Despite facing tensions with other musicians, including Rob Darken from Graveland, Nergal has since reconciled with him. His work with Behemoth has solidified his status in the black metal genre, where he plays lead, rhythm, and acoustic guitar.

Personal Life

Nergal's personal life has been as dynamic as his career. He was in a high-profile relationship with Polish pop singer Dorota Rabczewska, known as Doda, from 2009 to 2011. In 2012, he legally changed his middle name to 'Nergal' and has since ventured into business, co-owning barbershops and a nightclub in Poland. A self-identified Satanist, Nergal has expressed support for various social causes, including abortion rights and Ukraine during the ongoing conflict with Russia. Despite his beliefs, he celebrates Christmas, emphasizing the importance of family and relaxation during the holiday season.
